Lower East Side Community Hero
nominated by Andrea Gordillo
Frank Avila-Goldman proudly joins a long list of lower east side community advocates fighting for subsidized housing residents on the waterfront.
Whether it’s as Chairman for the Lower East Side East River Residents Committee , (made up of leaders from affordable housing/NYCHA/Section 8), as a Board member of Gouverneur Gardens, Secretary of Lower East Side Power Partnership or as a Resilience PAC founding member- Frank works to empower, protect and make livable waterfront communities on the LES. Frank believes those most directly/disproportionately impacted are the best community experts and advocates for their prioritization in city planning, governance and community resources.
Frank has been an invited speaker on resiliency issues at Columbia University, AIA New York, Center for Architecture and was a contributor to Mayor Adam’ s Resiliency Plan 2021. In his personal life, Frank is an artist, avid gardener, bike rider, and firmly believes the LES is the best!
